Dr. Jordan Shapera

Veterinarian

From a young age, I aspired to become a veterinarian, driven by a deep love for animals of all shapes and sizes. My journey began with an undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, where I gained hands-on experience with horses, cows, pigs, and more. I was sure I was destined to be a large animal vet!

During my time at vet school, I started working at Bridgwater as a student. It was here that I found my true calling in emergency medicine and critical care. After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021, I joined the team full-time, specializing in evening and overnight shifts. My special interests include emergency care, endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, and exotic medicine.

When I am not working at Bridgwater, I dedicate my time to the Winnipeg Humane Society, offering veterinary services to remote northern communities. My work primarily involves spay/neuter clinics and vaccination programs, helping to ensure these communities have access to essential veterinary care.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me snuggling with my cat, Boog, or enjoying a ride on my horse, Davos.
