What is considered an emergency?

Many health situations are considered emergencies. If your pet has any of the following health concerns, it is considered an emergency and should be seen by a veterinarian immediately:

  • Bloated abdomen
  • Retching with no vomit
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • Allergic reaction
  • Excessive bleeding
  • Pain
  • Unable to Walk
  • Seizuring
  • Unable to Urinate
  • Known ingestion of Toxins
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Unable or not wanting to eat
  • Trauma (Hit by Car)

Should you be in a situation where you need us, our team will be here for you. Simply give us a call day or night or come to the hospital immediately.

**If concerned about a toxin or medication ingestion, you can contact the Pet Poison Helpline at 855-764-7661. The attending veterinarian will be able to guide you on whether emergent veterinary care is needed and consult with Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital for streamlined care.**

What to expect during an emergency?

When you come to our hospital in an emergency situation, our technician will triage your pet immediately. Just like human emergency rooms, our clinic uses this system to ensure that our team handles the sickest patients quickly and efficiently. We do our very best to ensure all patients are seen in a timely manner, however during high volume times, should your pet have a minor ailment, you will be asked to wait until the emergencies are stabilized.

Critical Care

As a 24-hour emergency hospital, Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital has a dedicated team in place to provide the 24-hour care that your pet may need. Life-threatening illnesses and emergency situations are just a few reasons why you may need to use our services. Our veterinarians consult with your primary care veterinarian to ensure the continuity of care of your beloved pet.
